Who We Are
The Loyal Orange Institution of Western Australia is a Christian fraternal organization made up of Protestants from all denominations. The Orange Institution has played a significant part in developing Australia’s heritage, history and culture since the organization’s introduction to Australia in the early 1800s. The Order is made up of Lodges (Clubs) in each State, which come under the jurisdiction of a State Grand Lodge. The State Grand Lodges are represented at national level by the Grand Lodge of Australia (Est. 1883), which is based in the Eastern States.
Our Mission
Australia’s Orange Institution has entered a new era of opportunity to attract a fresh and dynamic membership. The development of the Internet and associated technologies have made communication across continents, in a few seconds, as simple as several strokes on a keyboard. There seems to be an endless stream of websites with Orange or related themes to surf through. We, in WA, believe that there are opportunities for closer ties with our Eastern brothers and sisters through regular exchange of ideas and information. For example, numerous Australian organizations effectively utilize technology such as teleconferencing, email and very reasonably priced airfares to hold national conferences in major cities on an annual or biennial basis.
Our Profile
Australian Orangeism must follow the rest of the world in utilizing the technology available to us. The Order should consider developing a strong web presence in line with most international organizations. The Loyal Sons and Daughters of Ulster LOL 64, in Perth, Western Australia are currently working with the web master of the Sydney Orange Net to establish a web site as part of our drive to provide information to people interested in the Orange Order. We want to attract quality members who are able to make a positive contribution to the welfare of all Australians through the organization. Descendants of Western Australia’s Orange men and women will easily be able to access current information and contact us. We would encourage other lodges around Australia to join with us in moving forward and developing a web presence.
